About Me
Hello, I'm Kat! I'm a freelance line editor, copy editor, and proofreader.
I've edited and proofread a range of projects, from YA thriller novels to mental health training materials and resources. As an intern at University of Wisconsin Press, I solicited and selected author blurbs, and I wrote cover copy for numerous books.
Previously I've copy edited for two separate school newspapers. I earned my BA in English at University of Wisconsin-Madison.
I have always loved everything about books: reading, writing, and editing! My mom had a rule that she would never say "no" if we asked her to buy us a book, and I've continued that tradition with my kids (and my adult self!). My dream is to open a mobile bookstore within the next few years!

Line Editing
You've put so much time and energy into your project, let me offer you a fresh set of eyes.
I will go line by line—editing or rewriting as necessary— focusing on tone, language, flow, and clarity. All while maintaining your voice, elevating your writing, and strengthening your story.
*Line Editors do not look for grammar, punctuation, or spelling errors.
Copy Editing
My job as your copy editor is to preserve your voice and style, while making sure the content of your project comes through clearly for your intended audience. This includes following (or creating!) a style guide to ensure consistency, flagging any continuity issues, and looking for spelling, grammar, and punctuation issues.
Proofreading
Love grammar, spelling, and punctuation? You may not, but I do! As your proofreader, I'll give your entire project one last read through to ensure it's ready for your audience. I'll even take a look at any typographical elements (including the front and back cover) to catch any errors or inconsistencies.
